The Dominican charism is "to contemplate and to give to others the fruits of our contemplation." The Dominican "mission" which flows from the charism is "to preach."
As Dominicans, we love and contemplate the Suffering and Crucified Christ, and share the fruits of that contemplation by preaching. We preach, not from a pulpit, but through our apostolate of nursing and bringing consolation to incurable cancer patients who cannot pay for the care they need.
The example of St. Dominic's life of prayer and deep love of God strengthens us in our resolve to share the fruit of our prayer -- communal and individual -- with our patients and their loved ones.
In imitation of St. Rose, our special patron in the Dominican family, we strive to give our lives in compassionate service to Jesus, who comes to us in every patient.
God has truly blessed us with a worthwhile apostolate in which to demonstrate
our love for Him.
