Our Mission

As Dominican Sisters, we continue the work of Saint Dominic today in an active and contemplative life. Our first mission is to actively witness to the primacy of God in our lives through prayer and service.

As members of the Order of Preachers, we preach the Gospel of Life by our service to the poor with incurable cancer. Through this work we help spread the Church's teaching on the sacredness of life and the value of suffering, and challenge the increasing acceptance of euthanasia within our society.

Today, the Church calls religious to proclaim the message of Christ with new vigor. In response to this call, we are opening our first home outside the United States ... St. Catherine of Siena Home in Kisumu, Kenya.

In going to Kisumu, we follow in the footsteps of our foundress, Mother Mary Alphonsa (Rose Hawthorne) and remain true to our charism. We will nurse and comfort the little children of Kisumu with Burkitt's Lymphoma and, in Mother Mary Alphonsa's words, "put them in such a condition that if our Lord knocked at the door we should not be ashamed to show what we have done."
